Strome Castle stands in a commanding position on a small promontory near Strome Narrows at the entrance to the main part of Loch Carron.

The castle was built in the 14th century but was blown up in 1603 during a clan feud between the MacDonalds and the MacKenzies.

The archway in the one remaining wall of the castle frames a spectacular view to the west, looking towards Plockton and the Cuillins on the Isle of Skye.

Magnificent sunsets can often be seen from this location.

Close by is the slipway for the old Strome Ferry which was closed in the 1970's following the opening of the Stromeferry By-Pass along the south shore of Loch Carron.
